This is a sample plan, not a fixed route. Timings depend on your flights, the season, the boat crossings and what you enjoy, and it is easy to adjust. It stays close to Freetown, which keeps transfers manageable.
Day 1: arrive at Lungi, cross the estuary and settle in at your hotel. Keep the first evening easy. Day 2: explore Freetown, with its markets, museum and viewpoints, and a local meal.
Day 3: head down the peninsula to the beaches, with time at places such as River No. 2 or Tokeh. Day 4: more beach time, or a surf lesson at Bureh if conditions suit.
Day 5: a day trip to the Banana Islands by road to Kent and a short boat crossing, for snorkeling and quiet beaches. Day 6: visit Bunce Island by boat with a guide for a meaningful look at Sierra Leone's history.
Day 7: a relaxed morning, last-minute shopping, then the crossing back to Lungi for your flight, with plenty of time in hand. If you have more time, Tiwai Island and the national parks make a rewarding extension, although they take longer to reach.
